Membership
We want YOU to Join IODE!
There are over 1,900 IODE members working in over 112 Primary Chapters across Canada. These members raise approximately $3,000,000 each year and reinvest it in Canada's children, families and communities.
IODE Walter Baker Chapter currently has 28 members and we'd LOVE to have YOU join us! Membership is open to Canadian women of all ages, backgrounds and interests. The one common factor is that they want to contribute to their community.
Membership offers a sense of purpose, community involvement, personal growth and new friendships that transcend family and work alliances. A bonus of membership: fun, sister-ship and lasting friendships.
Each member participates as her personal schedule allows. Because of the National and Provincial nature of the organization, the opportunity for involvement is extensive. Your personal leadership skills and special talents will be valued and developed through IODE membership.

Annual Membership Fees
Like many National Service Organizations (Lion's Club, Rotary Club, May Court, etc.), IODE has an annual membership fee that each member is required to pay in order to maintain their membership.
People often ask us, "Why do I need to pay to volunteer?"
The simple answer is that because we are a National organization and a registered charity, we are required to have a National Head Office. Administration of National organizations can be costly. However, unlike many larger charitable organizations IODE does not believe in using donation money or proceeds from fundraisers to pay for these costs. We as members take on that burden ourselves through our fees. IODE Walter Baker Chapter keeps its membership fee as low as possible, however, we understand that this modest fee may still not be financially possible for everyone.
Contact us for more information about our annual Membership Fees.
If you'd like to be a part of IODE, but our meeting time doesn't work for you, we'd like you to consider starting a new IODE Chapter. Starting a new IODE Chapter is easy and we'll help you every step of the way.
Do you have ten women friends who all want to help out those in need in their community, province and country? Can you commit to giving a few hours a month to attend a meeting and work on projects in either education, citizenship or community service? If you've answered "yes" to these two questions, a new IODE Chapter is possible.
IODE has the infrastructure already in place with established projects, programs and contacts to get you started making a difference right away. IODE Canada, IODE Ontario, IODE Ottawa Municipal Chapter and IODE Walter Baker Chapter will give you advice and mentor your new officers to help you and your new IODE chapter make a positive impact.
